Abbey Griffith is the Medical Librarian/Library Manager for the D'Angelo Library at Kansas City University in Kansas City, MO. She is also an Instructor in the College of Osteopathic Medicine, teaching Medical Informatics and Information Literacy within KCU's Evidence Based Medicine and Population Health course. In addition to this, she helps students and faculty with literature searches, develops expert searches, consults on systematic reviews, and manages library staffing at the Access Services desk within the library. Abbey came to libraries after spending 8 years as a stay at home mom to her 3 sons. She graduated with her Bachelors in Biology from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO in 2009. Upon applying to Emporia State University's SLIM program in 2016, she began working as a Library Page at the Joplin Public Library in Joplin, MO. She soon moved up to Reference Clerk at the Joplin Public Library and worked in the Local History and Genealogy department, assisting patrons with genealogical research and SWMO historical research projects. In July of 2017, she started working at the newly opened Kansas City University campus in Joplin, MO as the Assistant Medical Librarian in the Dawson Library. In August of 2021, she took the position of Medical Librarian/Library Manager at the D'Angelo Library at the Kansas City, MO campus and relocated to the KC Metro. Abbey has been a member of the Medical Library Association (MLA) since 2017 and is currently serving as the Osteopathic Caucus Chair. She has been a member of MCMLA since 2017 and served on the Research Committee for 2 years, followed by serving as Research Committee Chair these past 2 years. |
