Midcontinental Chapter of the Medical Library Association
Are you looking for someone to help you navigate health sciences libraries and librarianship? MCMLA offers two options to consider. With both options there is a lot of flexibility around meetings. Meetings can be virtual or in-person, weekly or quarterly, organized or messy – it’s up to you!
Mentors are experienced MCMLA members who meet with mentees to strengthen mentees in job-related areas and/or areas related to career goals and soft skills. Mentees can be new to librarianship or they can have library experience and are looking to grow in a specific area.

Do you want someone to talk shop with or share the ups and downs of your library career with? The Buddy Program is an informal partnership between MCMLA members that matches people with a peer. There is no expectation that either buddy takes on a mentoring role. The Buddy Program was developed to help MCMLA members get connected and provide that “in-the-trenches moral support”. It started as a way for early career librarians to meet others however the program has evolved and is now open to all—no matter how long you’ve been in the field.
