MCMLA Strategic Plan

Strategic Area 1: Member engagement   

Focus 1: MCMLA Members utilize chapter programs and services  

Focus 2: MCMLA leadership, committee, task force, etc., positions have inclusive representation of members from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and geographic regions 

Strategic Area 2: Continuing education & professional development   

Focus 1: MCMLA members’ educational and professional needs are supported  

Strategic Area 3: Research   

Focus 1: MCMLA members are involved in member-driven research 

Strategic Area 4: Advocacy   

Focus 1: MCMLA members are health sciences librarianship advocates 

Focus 2: MCMLA members are aware of advocacy resources 

Strategic Area 5: Professional networking   

Focus 1: MCMLA members support community-building activities throughout the year 

Strategic Area 6: Financial responsibility   

Focus 1: The MCMLA financial management plan will be transparent to members  

The strategic areas and focuses are voted on and approved by the full MCMLA membership. Under each focus are goals. The goals are set annually (approved by the Executive Committee) and need to be measurable (SMART goals). The timeline for goals may span multiple years, with short-term goals under the larger goal.  

The timeline to review the strategic areas and focuses is every 5 years. Next review will be 2027.
