Awards will be announced at the 2015 MCMLA Virtual Meeting, but if you are unable to attend the Virtual Meeting you are still eligible to be nominated for an award.

MCMLA STARS this is your time to shine!  Take time to share your accomplishments with our members.  It is our chance to recognize the outstanding work that takes place among chapter members.  I am always inspired and proud of the ideas and work of our members and our profession.

It is easy to submit your accomplishments.  Review the year, think about what you have participated in, achieved, efforts that are above and beyond the usual such as:  awards, new roles, new assignments, recognition, new ideas that have come to fruition, publishing, presentations or grants.

Please submit your STAR accomplishment by September 18th to http://mcmla.org/2015stars

If the admiration of your peers and personal satisfaction of sharing your accomplishments is not enough…names of STARS will be placed in a drawing for fabulous prizes.

Please contact me If you have any questions.    [Previous STARS listings are available at http://mcmla.org/stars ]

Registration for the MCMLA 2015 annual meeting is now available!  This year’s meeting (Virtual Connections: Wherever you are, you’ll be there!) will be a virtual conference, and the Planning Committee is excited to offer the meeting to you in this format.  Information about the virtual meeting is available at http://mcmla.org/event-1923618, and you can begin the registration process from this site as well.  The registration fee is $125 for early registration (through September 8, 2015), $150 for late (after September 8th) and non-member registration, and $100 for Emeritus & student member registration.  In addition, if several people plan to attend & view the meeting as a group, there will be a Group Registration option available (the fee for this is $500).

    To begin the registration process:

    ·         Click the Register button at the above link.

    ·         At the following screen, enter your email address and security check code.

    ·         Select your registration type.  If your email is in our database, you will have the option of logging in, which will automatically fill in most of the contact information on the following screen.

    ·         Enter or update your contact information.  If you are doing a Group Registration, enter the names and email addresses of the people in your group in the last box on the form.                                   Sample screenshot of the Group Registration contact information box.

    ·         Review your information, then click the Confirm button.

    ·         At the next screen, either click the Pay online button to pay via credit card, or click the Invoice link to print your invoice and mail it, with your payment check, to the Executive Secretary.                                 Sample screenshot of the registration payment options.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by clicking on this link.  On behalf of the Registration Committee for the MCMLA 2015 Virtual Meeting, we thank you for joining us on this new adventure!

(The following information comes courtesy of Melinda McClure, member of the Membership Committee.)

    Greetings!

The MCMLA Membership Committee invites you to consider becoming an MCMLA mentor or mentee. Mentoring is a great way to share expertise and interests! We request a minimum commitment of just one year, but mentors and mentees determine between them how frequently, and around what topics, they'd like to communicate.

You can learn more about the Mentoring Program, and indicate your interest, via the mentor/mentee form located at http://www.mcmla.org/mentorprogram (login to view), or by emailing Kristy Steigerwalt, MCMLA Membership Committee Co-Chair, at steigerwaltk@umkc.edu.

    Kind regards,

    Merinda McLure
