    Greetings!

The MCMLA Membership Committee invites you to consider becoming an MCMLA mentor or mentee. Mentoring is a great way to share expertise and interests! We request a minimum commitment of just one year, but mentors and mentees determine between them how frequently, and around what topics, they'd like to communicate.

You can learn more about the Mentoring Program, and indicate your interest, via the mentor/mentee form located at http://www.mcmla.org/mentorprogram (login to view), or by emailing Kristy Steigerwalt, MCMLA Membership Committee Co-Chair, at steigerwaltk@umkc.edu.

    Kind regards,

    Merinda McLure

Calling all Sages!! Broadcast your knowledge as a presenter at the Symposium of Sages CE during the MCMLA 2015 Virtual Meeting on October 9, 2015.

If you are not familiar with a Symposium of Sages, it consists of a series of presentations contributed by experts in the defined subject area of the symposium topic, followed by an interchange of opinions among symposium participants. One of the membership requests coming from the Quint meeting in Denver last fall was to have a class or discussions on handling office politics.  In response to your request, we are starting a new book club discussion group.

The book club discussion group on the book "It's All Politics: Winning in a World Where Hard Work and Talent Aren't Enough" by Kathleen Kelly Reardon is starting on Tuesday, March 10.  The club will meet in Adobe Connect (web meeting.nih.gov/barb ) from 2-3 CT, 1-2 MT for four weeks ( March 10, 17, 24, 31).  The discussion will be led by Darell Schmick, Research Librarian at the Eccles Health Sciences Library, University of Utah and Barb Jones, Library Advocacy and Missouri Coordinator.

We all deal with politics in our jobs.  Some days it is a pleasant experience, other days it is like walking through a minefield.  Come join us and explore ways to handle political situations and position yourself and your library in a favorable light!   If you have any questions, please contact Barb Jones (jonesbarb@health.missouri.edu).

I hope to see you all there!
