History
In May 2009, the Wyoming Medical Librarians recommended to the MCMLA Executive Board that their share of the profits from the MCMLA 2008 meeting, which was held in Cody, WY; be used to fund a travel scholarship. This scholarship is to help MCMLA members who live in rural areas of the MCMLA region to attend the annual MCMLA meeting. The MCMLA Travel Scholarship was approved with the Executive Secretary responsible for the distribution of the scholarship funds and the MCMLA Honors and Awards Committee responsible for soliciting applications and selecting the scholarship winner.
Scholarship Criteria
- The applicant must come from a rural or micropolitan area determined by using the Rural Assistance Center website http://ims2.missouri.edu/rac/amirural/definitions.asp .
- The applicant must submit a brief statement (100 words) explaining how receiving this scholarship will enhance their professional development as a librarian.
- Scholarship winners can only receive the scholarship once since funds are limited.

Scholarship money is reimbursed once the Executive Secretary has obtained receipts from the winner. Acceptable receipts are:
- Airline receipts
- Gas mileage notations - winner will be reimbursed at the going government mileage reimbursement amount
- Meeting registration costs
- CE registration costs
- Hotel costs
- The scholarship winner will be announced on the MCMLA listserv, the MCMLA Annual meeting and the winner's name will be listed on the MCMLA website.
